Aperol Spritz

In the heat of the summer, there is no better way to cool off in the late afternoon than with a spritz. The Aperol Spritz is an aperitif with citrus and a slight bitter flavor and since it has a relatively low alcohol content, it’s great for almost everyone to enjoy! Aperol tends to be more popular with women and men typically prefer the Campari Spritz with its…

The Genuis of Aperitivo

Aperitivo is one of the simplest and most genius things in Italy. After work, typically from 7-9 pm, Italians love to stop at an outdoor table at a local bar for a glass of wine or a nice spritz and some snacks before they have dinner. It’s a great way to unwind and cool off from the heat of the day. It’s also unbelievably cheap…

My Travel Inspiration

I was so terribly sad to hear about the passing of Anthony Bourdain while I was in Italy in 2018. I’ve been a huge fan of his for years. In 2010 for season 6, he filmed episode 20 of No Reservations in Rome. It was filmed in black and white in a fitting tribute to Federico Fellini’s movies, most notably 8 1/2. He ate an incredibly simple…

I’ve always had an aversion to mushy and creamy desserts, especially anything with whipped cream. But, the first time that my mom and I traveled to Italy, we decided to share a tiramisu after dinner one evening. Neither of us had ever had it before, but we thought it would be fun to try the traditional dish in its homeland. I fully expected to take one bite and…

Benvenuti- Welcome!

This isn’t the way I imagined starting my blog. The world seems to be in chaos right now and the thought of a lighthearted blog detailing my passion for Italy and desire to help others realize their travel dreams seems so trivial and utterly useless right now. But at the same time, it also feels very needed. I’m not going to lie, I’m in…

Let the Universe Guide You

Even the best laid plans can fail. Trains get delayed. Workers go on strike. And, trust me, you will get lost. The single most important thing I have learned from traveling is that these "setbacks" are the universe's way of telling you that something else was meant to happen. Instead of getting frustrated, lean into these moments with an open mind. Some of my best experiences and fondest memories have happened because things didn't go according to plan.
