Travel Necessities

When it comes to packing, these are the tried and true items that make it into every suitcase:

  1. Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray (available in travel size)
    • I use this lightweight moisturizer daily under my make-up. It’s oil-free and provides a refreshing burst of moisture to dry or tired skin.
  2. Moroccan Oil Treatment (available in travel size)
    • I love working a bit of this evaporative oil into my wet hair before air drying or blow drying. It surprisingly helps hair dry faster, keeps frizz at bay (especially in humid climates), and adds a nice luster to hair without being oily.
  3. Scarf
    • This should honestly be item #1 because of its versatility. A scarf is an essential item in Italy if you plan on visiting churches, especially in the summer when you’re wearing things like tanks and shorts. Churches and some museums have strict dress codes banning bare shoulders and skirts or shorts above the knee. You can quickly wrap a scarf around your waist to extend the length of your hemline or drape it over your shoulders to cover up. They’re also great as wraps or makeshift umbrellas. Vendors sell these all over Italy and you can get these for as little as 5 euros. They weigh next to nothing, so they also make fabulous gifts that are easy to pack. You can easily keep one inside your purse or tie one to your crossbody purse strap.
  4. PMD Clean Facial Cleansing Device
    • This thing is a game changer! I used to be so attached to my heavy Clarisonic facial brush, but this is my new favorite. The PMD is incredibly lightweight and it’s also made out of silicone which means it is antibacterial and you never need to replace brush heads. I find that being in different climates and using different types of water can really wreak havoc on my skin and having a sonic cleansing tool helps prevent breakouts while on vacation.
  5. Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser by Philosophy (available in travel size)
    • This is the facial cleanser that I have used daily for over a decade. Purity is the ultimate in deep, yet gentle cleansing. It removes every last bit of make-up, including waterproof mascara. Purity has been on Oprah’s Favorite Things list forever and if you use this once, I promise that it will become your favorite too.
  6. Beekman 1802 Goat Milk Hand Cream
    • I love Beekman 1802 products and I’m especially obsessed with their body cream. This hand cream is essentially the same thing in a more portable bottle. This luxurious hand cream is great to use as a whole body moisturizer and packs instant hydration without being greasy.
  7. Birkenstock Gizeh Sandals
    • I live in my Birkenstock sandals and have too many pairs to count. The Gizeh is my favorite style and I think it has a nice European flair. These are great for walking miles and miles every day while providing amazing support for your feet. You can also dress them up or down, which means you don’t need to pack evening shoes.
